Marketing with LinkedIn

LinkedIn is not something I am very familiar with, and I have never had to make an account. It definitely is the most professional platform I can think of, and I almost don’t even associate it with other social media. I think this is because LinkedIn is used for only professional use, while many other platforms have a mix of professional and personal. This is an upside to LinkedIn that many other platforms do not have. You know when you are on LinkedIn that you are there for professional reasons, that way you won’t ever be frustrated at a personal platform being over run by businesses trying to sell things. I never realized how many people use it, and I certainly did not think it was over 10 million. I was also surprised by the number of young people that are using LinkedIn, and how many college graduates use it! I really enjoyed the section on LinkedIn Pages, because of how they have pages for both companies and individuals. I think it is very important to interview a company just as much as they interview you, and this makes it very easy to see what companies you think you would work with best. It’s very smart to use LinkedIn as a company, because if you make a successful profile it can get boosted up to be seen more frequently. This is going to draw people to you, not only for their own professional purposes, but it could even just keep your name in their mind for any other reason. Maybe down the road they will need a service, and they will look your company up because it is the last thing they remember. LinkedIn is much more similar to every other social media that we use on the daily, just shifting your perspective to professional language could be what helps you be successful on this platform, just as much as every other. LinkedIn seems to have big plans for the future like, video messaging or video creation. With the platform expanding constantly, I think it’s safe to say that LinkedIn is a very useful platform, and something I need to look into getting involved in very quickly.
