Chapter 6 Review

Twitter is the last platform I think of for professional marketing accounts, but is the first platform I think of for random tweets. It seems to be one of the most complicated algorithms, and I’m not usually sure how I stumbled onto a viral tweet. I’ve always heard the joke about when you first get Twitter you don’t understand it, then one day you’re in too deep and you scroll endlessly everyday. I even felt the same when I first got Twitter, then eventually one day I followed a bunch of people who posted often and started to get a very funny feed. Professionally, I usually see the companies who are pretty laid back using Twitter to be funny and relate to a much younger audience. I’ve seen companies like Wendy’s have a back and forth argument with other companies, that all seem to be in good competitive fun. My dad asked me to set  him a Twitter account up a while ago for his work. He works at a high-school, and he’s a big part of the marketing there. I made him the account, and asked him what he was planning on using it for. His plan was to be able to follow the high school’s Twitter account closer and be able to create his own content and have interactions directly with people involved with the school. So far, he hasn’t been so successful at creating his own content, which I think comes from the generational gap. I can see how using Twitter could get your news out quick to your followers, as I usually see current events on Twitter almost live. During the summer, I watched many of the protests taking place in the country on Twitter as they were happening. The trending page is usually full of big events in the country, and I think it could be a smart way to let your followers know about big events that happen with your company.
